“I had heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You.”
(Job 42:5)
If this were to happen today, the story of Job would likely make headlines in every newspaper, news broadcast, and social media platform. “Man loses all ten children, his wealth, his estate, and falls ill…” Truly, we can hardly imagine the immense pain he must have felt in his heart.
If we look at the entire book of Job, we find a lengthy dialogue between Job and his friends, and at the end, a conversation between Job and God. Job's words are not always calm, especially after being accused by his own friends of having committed evil, which they believed led to his great tragedy. Job did not understand the reason for his suffering. But God did not condemn his anger or his questioning. Unlike us, God speaks and allows us to speak.
He is not upset by our words but helps us to know Him better. In this verse, we see that Job came to know God more intimately after enduring his trials. God reminded him that His ways are not always understandable. God does not always explain why bad things happen to good people. All you need to remember is that He is the all-powerful Creator, the sustainer of everything and everyone. Trust in the Lord!

Prayer:
Lord my God, I surrender all my afflictions and difficulties to You. Help me not to try to understand everything that happens to me, but to quiet my heart and trust in You. May life’s experiences, whether good or bad, lead me closer to You. Help me to know You better, not just by hearsay, but because I walk with You. In Jesus' name, amen.
