Love the Lord your God, obey Him, and be faithful to Him, for He is your life, and by Him you will live long in the land that He swore to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
(Deuteronomy 30:20)
Our life, longevity, and well-being depend on one thing: obedience to God. This is the cost of living in the presence of Jesus. We must not forget that our relationship with God is based on love and commitment to His will. If we refuse to obey Him, we jeopardize everything that is most important in life.
This was also the cost of living in the promised land: obedience to the Lord. No matter how strict they thought the law was, how many rules there were, or how difficult they seemed, the commandments were given to protect and help people stay on the right path.
Similarly, in our lives, God's commandments are good; they guide us and are for our benefit. They allow us to live in the presence of God and in peace with one another. The blessed life that God wants to give us is linked to the obedience we show Him in love.
The Benefits of Obedience Are Great:
- Pray and ask God for forgiveness if you have been disobedient to His Word.
- Meditate on the following: "To obey is better than sacrifice" (1 Samuel 15:22).
- Obedience is a personal decision. Ensure that you do not follow bad examples or the influence of the disobedient.
- God does not want what is bad for you. On the contrary, obedience to what He commands will be best for you.
- "We must obey God rather than men!" (Acts 5:29). Keep your priorities clear.
For prayer:
Lord God, help me to obey You in everything, no matter the cost. Forgive me if I am selective, choosing in which areas of life I will obey You. I need to be honest and completely faithful to Your Word. Help me to cling to You, for my entire life depends on You. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray and thank You. Amen!
