Have you noticed that when we’re happy, we tend to be generous? For example, when choosing a wedding gift, we usually think about what will make the couple happy. Seeing their joy brings us joy. It’s the same with God—He delights in our gratitude and always responds with more than we could expect.
When we are truly grateful—and gratitude goes beyond words—we acknowledge God's importance in our lives. That recognition stirs up love, and God pours out even more blessings upon us.
However, it’s important to understand that this isn’t an exchange or a negotiation; it’s cause and effect. If we sin, we face the consequences of sin. But if we love God, we receive the results of that love. That’s the key: to love God and receive His love in return.
Gratitude is the key
Give thanks to God sincerely, with all your heart. Express your gratitude willingly, not out of obligation.
Show your gratitude to God through your actions, not just with words.
If you expect something in return, your mindset is off track. Revisit the biblical definition of love—read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
A prayer:
Lord, I feel so loved by You! Thank You so much for being present in every moment of my life. All I can do is give thanks and praise Your name. You are my compass, my guide. You’ve never left me, and I know You truly love me, because I can feel and recognize that love. Thank You, Father. Amen.
