Grace and Truth

From His fullness we have all received grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
(John 1:16–17)

The Law of God, given through Moses, revealed who we truly are and the greatness and holiness of God. Through it, we see just how far we fall short of God’s goodness and perfection. The Lord’s commandments are not mere rules—they are love and life for those who obey them. Without the Lord’s help, humanity failed, for we could not fulfill God’s will. It is impossible to do so by our own merit.

But thanks be to God for Jesus Christ! When He came into the world, He embodied God’s grace and truth for mankind. He didn’t simply bring or reinterpret instructions—He lived out the Law in its fullness. Jesus showed us, through His life, how we should live toward God, and He revealed God’s love and life toward humanity. Walk in the grace and truth of Jesus! You will see how He will help you, grant you victory, and lead you into abundant life.

Grace upon grace:

  • Pray and ask God to help you understand and live out truth and grace through Jesus Christ.

  • Be thankful—Jesus Himself brought the final solution to our insufficiency before God.

  • Strive to know the Bible more deeply. Through it, you will discover how to please the Lord.

  • Read the Gospel of John and try to identify other passages that speak of God’s grace and truth.

  • Write down the references you find and what you learn from them.

  • Share with others what you discover about the truth and grace of Jesus.

Prayer:
Lord God, thank You so much for sending us Jesus. Through Him we receive salvation and forgiveness for our failures. In Jesus, we also have the perfect example of how to please, obey, and love You. That is wonderful, because we could never achieve it on our own. Teach us to always walk in that path—Christ Himself—the way of truth, grace, love, and life. Help me reflect to the world Your fullness and endless grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
