You Reap What You Sow

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
Galatians 6:7

The great warning in this verse lies in the deception of thinking we can fool God. The law of sowing gives us a very clear lesson: everyone reaps the fruit of what they have planted. Each new day gives us the opportunity to do good—to sow good things, moved by the Spirit of God. But whether we do so or not is a personal choice...

The Bible gives us countless examples of righteousness and of the consequences that come from all our actions. To sow well, we must decide what kind of seeds we will plant and in what kind of soil. It all comes down to choice. Plant good seeds in fertile ground, and you can be certain that you will reap good fruit.

Start planting good seeds today:

  • Reflect on the kind of seeds you’ve been sowing. If you’ve planted poorly and reaped results you don’t like, it may be time to change your attitude. Ask God for forgiveness.

  • Examine how you’ve been behaving (with God, your family, at work, with friends, etc.), and seek to always sow good seeds under God’s guidance.

  • Pray that your seeds may bless the lives of others, not just your own.

  • Sow good seeds in practical ways today: be kind, show gratitude, help someone, forgive, and demonstrate love.

  • Study the Bible and discover how to sow in ways that please God.

  • Talk with brothers and sisters in Christ and share your desire to produce good fruit for God.

Prayer:
Loving God, You know my actions—no one can hide from You, and there’s no way to deceive You. Forgive my wrong intentions and the poor decisions I’ve made up to now. Help me to always plant good seeds. May I make the most of every opportunity to sow goodness in the lives of others. Thank You for helping me and teaching me to reap good fruit that pleases You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
