In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.
- Psalm 4:8
David went through many difficult times in his life. He faced wild animals, the giant Goliath, armies, King Saul, and was even pursued by his own son, Absalom.
And what about us? What attitudes do we usually show when we go through difficult times? Do we lose sleep? Do we get discouraged and frustrated? Do we panic?
In this Psalm, David reveals a completely different attitude. In the face of great difficulties, serious problems, or threatening enemies, he found rest in God. David’s heart overflowed with peace and security because he fully trusted in the Lord, who is in control of all things. That’s how he was able to sleep peacefully and calmly.
How can we sleep in peace today?
- Pray and surrender your worries, problems, and difficulties to the Lord.
- Believe that only God can guarantee you a safe life.
- Read the Bible and discover God’s constant protection over His children.
- Have faith and trust that Jesus cares for you.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you so much for your care and protection today. I trust that I am safe with you because you are greater than all the threats and problems that arise. Help me to rest and sleep in peace, believing that you care for me all the time. Amen.
